Gut Health

Microbiome or gut health is essential to both our physical and mental health. It’s our connection to the outside world and how we absorb or in some cases don’t absorb our nutrition. Disruption to the microbiome can lead to a variety of health conditions including  allergies, depression, anxiety, autism, adhd, arthritis, autoimmune diseases, dementia, and more.

Seventy percent of our immune cells can be found in the gut. Most of our serotonin (feel good neurotransmitter) is found in the gut, which is why the gut is often referred to as the second brain. Mental health professionals need to start looking at the gut when assessing a patients psychiatric profile.  There are hundreds of studies linking anxiety, depression, adhd, and autism to gluten consumption. With prescriptions being written for adults and children at sky rocketing rates, we need to find the root cause of these problems. Addressing gut issues rather than masking symptoms with drugs seems much more logical logical a solution.

Processed food loaded with chemicals, artificial flavoring, and dyes along with sugar, gluten, dairy, seafood & meat pumped with antibiotics has largely destroyed this vital eco system. Along with the over prescription of antibiotics to people, which destroy not only the bad bacteria but the healthy bacteria as well. Factory farmered animals live in such poor conditions that they require constant antibiotics which in turn are consumed by the people who eat this factory farmed industrial meat.

Gluten sensitivity is on the rise since we have greatly altered our wheat over the last 50 years. Our bodies are simply not designed to process this wheat. Even if someone is not gluten intolerant, gluten may be causing inflammation in the gut which then affects the eco system in the gut. Gluten sensitivity tests are not always accurate so eliminating gluten for 6 weeks may be the best test.

Genetically modified organisms  and the toxic chemicals sprayed on food kills the insects and bugs by destroying their stomachs. Same things happens when we eat these GMO’s and the pesticides used on non organic produce. Our microbiome is destroyed leading to disease as well as some mental disorders including anxiety, depression, and adhd.

The bad bacteria in the gut feeds off sugar and flour which creates an over growth and can lead to the issues described above.

We need to get back to eating real organic food and avoiding processed “food” products.
